BETTER THOUGHTS -- Mindfulness

Thinking more deeply about my post from yesterday the idea came to me on "mindfulness".

According to MacBook dictionary, it means:

mind.ful |ˈmīndfəl|
adjective [ predic. ]
conscious or aware of something : we can be more mindful of the energy we use to heat   our homes.

DERIVATIVES
mindfully |ˈmaɪn(d)fəli| adverb
mindfulness |ˈmaɪn(d)fəlnəs| noun
So what if I was actually more mindful every day?  What if I set the clock to remind me to just think some real clear thoughts or remind me to follow up on something a friend told me about a few days ago?  Maybe think of a bible verse for five minutes?  Or pray?  Or send a few text messages to people I love?

Obviously it will be weird for a while and maybe even a little forced, but what effect would it have on my life, thoughts and relationships?

I wanted to say that it would me inauthentic, but that's not true because I wouldn't even remember the things I wanted if it didn't matter, right?  I'm okay with that.

So let's get to it!  I'm about to put one, or three, or fifteen reminders for a few weeks where I remind myself to take five minutes to just be an encouragement to another person, think of a bible verse and maybe just envision my successful workout for the day.  At this point I don't think that I will put specific tasks, but I will simply write, "mindful play".  I'm excited to have these mini brain-vacations throughout my day.  I bet it helps me to loosen up a little bit more.  We'll see!

This effort to stop going through the motions of life.  I might even take a moment to do something bad that pays off in the long run.  I have the thought in my mind of what it is already.  It makes me nervous, but I know that it will be of great relief in the long run.

So what's your motion in the ocean?  Are you just living up to a dream that you don't know is tethered to the right pole?  Do you lack quality in any area of your life that you know needs a little more attention?  What step can you take to feel like you, or life, or someone important to you, really mattered today?

Small steps get us to the same finish line.  Make one today.
