Triathlon

i have the goal of completing my first triathlon this year. during the winter months, I took swimming lessons/training and got swell enough that I could swim 25M without any tools to assist.  i've also been running and am up to 2 miles in endurance.

in general I feel like I may cancel my race because I haven't been on a bike or in the lake at all this summer and just began swimming again after almost five months of no training.  when it comes to goals, especially ones with deadlines, these are the most frustrating parts.. when you don't take your goal seriously and you kind of let yourself down.

there is still the possibility to train well enough to complete the race, I think that I got so caught up in the costs that I shutdown and felt helpless because of other financial responsibilities I had all summer (not terrible things, just sudden and necessary).

I have seen a few 6 week training programs out there and can only hope for the blessing of a bike and opportunities to swim in open water within the next few weeks before race day.

no matter what happens, this is still a goal for me and even if I have to reschedule (race in the spring--i also insured my race) then I will.

in general, swimming has been such a great success for me.  although I've always been comfortable around water, and having general swim abilities, i always hated that I couldn't swim powerfully or frolic with friends in open water.  swimming makes me feel like an athlete and is so much work that I really have powerful visions more often that push me farther, faster, and for longer.

if I do cancel, my plan of attack is to purchase a bike and get an indoor trainer to build up endurance, swim and really go for those miles, then i'll run and cross train at the gym.

much like a final paper, I am in a crunch, but no matter waht, I know that I will perform in the end.

xo,
